Angie Dauer
Year: Senior Transfer
Major: Pure Mathematics
Position: Co-President
From the small town of Ukiah, California, Angie found herself attending Mendocino College. She knew that she wanted to continue her education to a higher level. But how far will she go? Using her love of learning and curiosity of the unknown she started her path towards acquiring a degree in mathematics and transferred to UC Berkeley. After transferring she became involved in the N.E.R.D.S. (New Experience in Research and Diversity in the Sciences) program. She recently was accepted into UC LEADS (University of California Leadership Excellence through Advanced Degrees) and started research last summer involving the symmetric group and probability theory. She plans to apply to graduate school next Fall and is currently trying to figure out what she'd like to study. In her free time, Angie enjoys listening to a variety of music. Her favorites being Latin pop and rock, country, and electronic. She enjoys board games, dancing and getting to know people.

Name: Fern Wood
Position: Co-President
Major: Pure Maths
Year: 3rd Year
After a brief (and somewhat dull) time spent with Engineering, Fern struck up what she hoped to be a stable and creative relationship with Maths. While their relationship is sometimes rocky and definitely frustrating at times, she has been happy about it so far. Years from now, when she is as to describe the time she spent with Maths, she will fondly recall (in the words of Leo Robin) the he "might've been a headache, but never was a bore." Though that last sentence seems to imply that one day, she will be ending her relationship with Maths, in particular to perhaps go to medical school, the windy pathways of fate may instead find Fern proposing to Maths. If he accepts, then they could very well get married and move into graduate school together. But that is a little ways from now. Currently, however, you can find Fern lurking around various floors of Evans Hall, snacking furiously between classes, or crying over problem sets.

David Gee
Year: Third Year
Major: Pure Mathematics and Physics
Position: Vice President
David Gee is a third-year pure mathematics and physics double major. He plans to attend graduate school, but isn't sure about what he wants to study; however, he is interested in quantum geometry and mathematical physics. He enjoys playing chess and reading books, especially if they are about math and science.

Name: Michael Guo
Position: Fundraising Chair
Year: Sophomore
Major: Applied Mathematics and Economics
Michael is a 22 year old sophomore because he had to do 2 years of military national service in Singapore. He was born in Xilan, China and he grew up in Singapore. In the future, he hopes to be going into investment banking and actuarial after graduation. He loves to play rugby, soccer and badminton, but he can play any sport (except baseball and football).

Kenneth Chiu
Year: Third Year
Major: Mathematics and MCB
Position: Treasurer
Kenneth is a 3rd year MCB and Math double major. Not only is he the treasurer for the Mathematics Undergraduate Student Association (MUSA), but also he is the Design Chair for Engineering World Health (EWH) this semester. He likes to play basketball in his free time and enjoys the little sleep he gets.

Athena Bringhurst
Year: Second Year
Major: Applied Mathematics and Rhetoric
Position: Co-Social Chair
I am an Applied Mathematics and Rhetoric double major; these seemingly divergent courses of study are an indication of my wide variety of interests. I have danced classical ballet since I was eight, and I am a member of the Ballet Company at Berkeley. On a whim, I joined the Ohlone College Forensics Team for three semesters and somehow managed to win Bronze in Parliamentary Debate at the state and national level. I also love to cook almost any type of ethnic cuisine. I am constantly experimenting with new recipes and ingredients. I am a huge fan of fantasy and science fiction novels. I can easily spend a week reading a good series and doing hardly anything else. While this last trait may sway you to believe otherwise, I strongly feel that the stereotype of math majors as introverts whose natural habitat is "a cage in a box with no windows" (Squelch, May 2009) is very much undeserved. As Co-Social Chair, I endeavor to promote a more vibrant math-community among undergraduates at Berkeley.

Name: Dongmiao Cui
Position: Co-Social/Outreach Chair
Year: Junior
Major: Mathematics and Economics
Dongmiao is double majoring in Math and Economics. She loves hanging out in the MUSA office (938 Evans) where she can be with talented people with the same passion for math that she has and get help with her studies. Her dream is to open up a bakery called "Rurutio" in Greece. Maybe you will really see one when you are there someday!

Name: Simon Tao
Position: Secretary
Year: Junior
Major: Mathematics

Simon is a math major who is highly interested in music, having considered a music major, yet is really out of touch with contemporary music for the most part. He has a short attention span, and a lack of planning, and has tried out a few mental activities. He’s read nearly all of Terry Pratchett’s books, and wants to read more of Neil Gaiman’s. He has a Go set at the MUSA office, but he sucks at it.

Name: Kyle J. Corbelli
Position: Publicity Chair
Year: Junior
Major: Applied Mathematics, Focus in Statistical Methods.
Kyle's mathematical interests include linear modeling with observed and experimental data, mathematical optimization, and inferential statistics. When it comes down to it though, if you come up to the MUSA office in 938 Evans and talk to him about any type of math you'll have a pretty good chance of getting him thoroughly enthusiastic about it. After he graduates he plans to work in industry as an actuary for several years before possibly attending graduate school, pursuing a Masters of Financial Engineering. Ultimately, he aspires to establish a private actuarial consulting firm, investment firm, or real estate development firm. Other than math, Kyle wholeheartedly enjoys cheesecake, camping, and tickle fights.

Name: Elvia Nidia Gonzalez
Position: Webmistress
Year: In limbo between Junior/Senior year
Major: Pure math
She plans on teaching (not just standing in front of a room lecturing but ACTUAL teaching) college-level math. She lives with her boyfriend of three years and their two lovely cats.
